Whether you’re 5, 25, or 65, learning today means staying connected.
Back-to-school season usually brings to mind backpacks, school supplies and the first day of class. But learning doesn’t stop when you leave the classroom, and neither does the need to keep up with technology.
From grade school homework and online classes to managing finances, accessing important information, staying in touch with family and learning new skills, the internet has become part of everyday life. Knowing how to use technology safely and confidently helps make those connections even more valuable.
That’s why Sprout Fiber Internet, Wallace State Community College, and the Cullman County Public Library have teamed up to host free digital literacy classes for adults throughout our community.
Digital skills for everyday life
Started in the fall of 2025, our three organizations have worked together to bring digital literacy classes to communities across our area, giving participants a comfortable place to ask questions, practice new skills and become more confident with technology.
Classes focus on practical skills people can use every day, from getting more out of a smartphone and navigating the internet to recognizing online scams, using common apps and tools, and understanding new technology.
And there really is no such thing as a silly technology question. If you’ve ever wondered what a button does, how an app works or whether you should click that link, chances are someone else has wondered the same thing.
Bringing learning closer to home
One of our goals has been to make these classes easy and convenient for people in the communities we serve.
By combining the educational resources of Wallace State Community College, the community reach of the Cullman County Public Library, and Sprout’s focus on connectivity and technology, we’re able to bring hands-on digital education closer to home.
Because providing access to fast, reliable internet is only part of keeping a community connected. Helping people feel comfortable and confident using that connection matters, too.
Back to school at any age
You don’t have to be heading back to school this year to learn something new.
Maybe you want to feel more confident using your smartphone. Maybe you’d like to better understand online privacy and scams. Maybe you want to explore artificial intelligence, learn a new program or simply figure out where that setting disappeared to on your phone.
Technology keeps changing, which means there’s always something new to learn. And learning new digital skills can help you stay informed, independent and connected along the way.
